Dive Master

Position Overview: High Output Tours is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dive Master to lead snorkel tours and oversee the upkeep of our dive shop and gear. This role is pivotal in ensuring safe, fun, and memorable marine experiences while maintaining our high standards for equipment and facility operations.

About the Job

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tour Leadership:

    • Lead snorkel tours, providing engaging and educational experiences tailored to guests of varying skill levels.

    • Conduct safety briefings and ensure all participants are comfortable and informed.

  2. Dive Shop Maintenance:

    • Oversee daily operations of the dive shop, ensuring cleanliness and organization.

    • Maintain and inspect all snorkeling and dive equipment, coordinating repairs and replacements as needed.

  3. Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to and enforce all safety protocols and regulations during tours and equipment use.

    • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance schedules.

  4. Guest Engagement:

    • Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.

    • Share knowledge of local marine ecosystems and answer guest questions with enthusiasm.

  5. Environmental Stewardship:

    • Promote responsible snorkeling practices that protect local marine habitats.

    • Report any notable environmental observations or concerns during tours.

 

Qualifications:

  • Certified Dive Master (current certification required) with snorkeling experience.

  • Strong understanding of snorkeling safety protocols and equipment maintenance.

  • Passion for marine education and conservation.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Must be 18 years or older.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Sitka’s marine ecosystems and local wildlife.

  • Previous experience managing or maintaining dive shop operations.

  • Multi-lingual abilities are a plus.
