Welcome to High Output Adventures and High Output Tours, your gateway to the breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture of Sitka, Alaska.

 

Company History

Our company carries on the cherished legacy of Sitka Bike & Hike, originally founded by Jeff Budd in 1998, and Island Fever Diving & Adventures, founded by Michelle Barker in 2007.

 

In 2008, Sitka Bike & Hike and Island Fever Diving & Adventures operated as sister companies, each carving out its own niche in Sitka's tourism industry. Sitka Bike & Hike focused on land-based adventures, offering guided biking and hiking tours that highlighted the stunning trails and landscapes of Sitka. Island Fever Diving & Adventures specialized in water-based activities, including snorkeling and underwater exploration, showcasing the vibrant marine life of the region.

 

In 2015, the two businesses officially merged under the Sitka Bike & Hike name after Jeff sold to Michelle, combining their expertise to offer a diverse array of land and sea experiences. For nearly a decade, Sitka Bike & Hike has become a trusted name in Sitka tourism, known for delivering immersive, high-energy tours that allowed visitors to experience both the land and water of Alaska's stunning landscapes.

In 2024, following the sudden passing of Michelle Barker, her right-hand, Bethany Lowrance, took the reins of the company. Driven by a deep respect for Michelle's legacy and a desire to continue evolving, Bethany rebranded the company to High Output Adventures to better align with the growing scope of the operation. This rebranding introduced High Output Tours (HOT) as the main operating division, reflecting the company's commitment to providing dynamic and high-quality tours that connect visitors with Alaska's natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.

Today, High Output Adventures is 100% locally owned by Bethany Lowrance, with a dedicated team of local full-time and seasonal staff committed to continuing the company's legacy while fostering the growth of Sitka's tourism industry.

We take pride in offering a diverse range of outdoor experiences that cater to the adventurous hearts of cruise ship passengers aged 25 to 65. Our tours are thoughtfully designed to provide something for everyone, whether you seek the thrill of hiking in pristine wilderness, the joy of biking along scenic trails, or the camaraderie of a lively pub crawl.

 

A key part of our mission is our commitment to the youth in our community. We employ many teens, providing them with positive direction, valuable mentorship, and the opportunity to build essential skills as they prepare for adulthood. By involving them in our operations, we not only uplift their spirits but also equip them with the tools they need to succeed in life.

 

As we grow, we envision expanding our offerings to include an outfitter store and training programs for boat safety, kayaking, surfing, snorkeling, and diving. Our commitment to continuous improvement drives us to innovate and evolve, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of the adventure tourism industry in Sitka.
