Lead Guide

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tour Leadership:

   • Lead groups on guided adventures, including biking, hiking, and other activities.

   • Provide expert commentary on local history, ecology, and culture to enhance guest experience.

2. Safety Management:

   • Prioritize guest and team safety, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols.

   • Conduct safety briefings and provide ongoing support during tours.

3. Guest Engagement:

   • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests.

   • Address guest questions and concerns professionally and enthusiastically.

4. Team Collaboration:

   • Mentor and support Support Guides to maintain a cohesive team.

   • Work closely with mechanics and management to ensure all equipment and logistics are optimized.

5. Logistical Coordination:

   • Manage daily schedules and ensure tours run on time.

   • Complete post-tour reports and provide feedback to improve operations.

6. Environmental Stewardship:

   • Uphold our commitment to sustainable and respectful use of trails and natural areas.

   • Represent the company in a positive light within the local community.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in guiding or outdoor leadership preferred.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong knowledge of outdoor safety, including first aid and wilderness skills (Wilderness First Responder certification a plus).

• Passion for adventure tourism, the outdoors, and working with people.

• Ability to manage and inspire a team in high-pressure situations.

• Familiarity with biking, hiking, or other outdoor adventure skills.

• Must be 18 years or older.

• Must be 21 years or older to be considered for Culinary tour and Pedal Pub.

Preferred Skills:

• Advanced biking or hiking experience.

• Knowledge of Sitka’s history, culture, and natural environment.

• Multi-lingual abilities are a plus.

• Experience with group management and conflict resolution.
